“No man is an island entire of itself”.
John Donne wrote these words in 1623, as he was recovering from a sickness that kept him in isolation. 397 years later, those words are still relevant. We all rely upon the company and the comfort of others to thrive.
We try to stress this idea at SMILE. While independent living and self-reliance is a goal, it is important to recognize that these do not mean the same thing as being alone.
It doesn’t matter if we are gardening...
Cooking...
Making gifts for mom and our first responders...
Learning some new life skills...
Exercising or just plain having fun...
We do it all with the support of each other. We continue to grow together.
As we continue to share our quarantined moments with you, we invite you to share some of yours with us. Please, whether it is in the comments below, on our Facebook page, or via Instagram, we would love to hear from you and see what you’ve been up to.
Please, stay safe and stay connected and remember to be the SMILE in someone’s day.
I love, love, love the pics and the message. Thank you so much for getting these amazing guys through a challenging and unprecedented time. Not only is Arthur coping amazingly well, but he is doing so with a SMILE!! We appreciate the staff and supporters more than words can say. 💖
